Long-term living with addiction

Idee zoekt aansluiting (ideas looking to connect):

The treatment of addiction focuses on short-term goals such as “Stopping”, the “overcoming” of a chronic condition. In itself funny, because in this approach often the long-term versus the short term is central. But what does living with an addiction mean? Does the “non-use” remain in the foreground? Or is there a way of life that transcends that? And if so, what are the central aspects?
